Heated Senate Race In Kentucky

This is probably going to be the most exciting race of the 2014 midterm elections. High stakes on both sides, particularly for the parties supporting Democratic candidate Alison Grimes, and incumbent Republican Senator Mitch McConnell. On the Democratic side, this is a potential pick up in a field where Democrats are defending a majority of the 36 senate contests. This is also a state that has historically voted Republican. A win for Grimes would be a potential neutralizer for another potential loss of a current democratic seat in a red state such as Alaska or Louisiana. On the Republican side, not only can losing this seat be make or break for control of the Senate for Republicans, but it will also be a huge blow to their party if their senate leader was defeated.

Polls currently show a very tight race for the seat. Democrats see the potential pick up of that seat
and have been quick to pounce. Even former President Bill Clinton has been in the state a couple of times campaigning for Grimes. It will be exciting tosee what happens over the course of the next 3 months, particularly if the Senate Minority Leader finally loses his seat! Maybe this will be a wake up call to Republicans that gets them to finally do some work in Congress. We’ll continue to follow this, and other stories relating to the midterm elections.
